Tshepong, Emfuleni – The community of Tshepong recently celebrated the launch of the Kgothaletso Development Academy (KDA), a much-needed and warmly received non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being and development of local school children. This essential support organization is set to serve De Deur, Tshepong, Ironside, Lakeside, Debonia Park, Roshnee, and Dreamland.
Motto: “Breaking Barriers, Building Resilience, Brightening Lives”
By providing education, counselling services, sessions, and community engagement, KDA seeks to promote resilience, self-advocacy, and healthy relationships among youth. The organization aspires to eliminate barriers caused by bullying, violence, and substance abuse, thereby enabling children to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. KDA envisions a future where children are empowered to make informed choices, engage in constructive dialogue, and contribute positively to their communities, leading to a generation equipped to break the cycle of poverty and violence. More importantly, the vision is to let children be children.
Mrs. Evelyn Tshumane, well-known as Mamorena, a professional and experienced social worker vested in the society and supportive of organizations that empower young children, had this to say: “I have witnessed firsthand the devastating impact bullying can have on our youth. By fostering resilience and promoting healthy relationships, KDA is not only helping to stop bullying but also saving lives. It is important that we create safe and nurturing environments where every child feels valued and empowered to thrive.”
The launch of KDA has been met with enthusiasm and support from the Tshepong community. Local leaders, parents, and educators have praised the initiative for its potential to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of children and the broader community.
“We are thrilled to see the establishment of KDA in our community. This initiative is a beacon of hope and shows that we care deeply for our children and their future because they are the future leaders,” said Warrant Officer Maliehe from SAPS, stationed at De Deur.
“The concept of this initiative will help us form not only strong family bonds but also a good, unified community,” concluded the chairperson of KDA, Nomalanga Tshabangu Dingaan, well-known as Langi.
