MIDVAAL REVEALS FOUR NEW PARKS IN COMMEMORATION OF ARBOR DAY
The Executive Mayor, Alderman Peter Teixeira, along with Members of the Mayoral Committee, unveiled four newly upgraded and developed parks to celebrate Arbor Day and Week.

The Executive Mayor, Alderman Peter Teixeira, along with Members of the Mayoral Committee, unveiled four newly upgraded and developed parks to celebrate Arbor Day and Week.

South Africa celebrates Arbor Week in the first week of September annually, and Midvaal celebrated its Arbor Day on September 7, 2023.

The unveiled parks are located in Savanna City Bonded Section – Pocket 4, Savanna RDP Section, Riversdale, and Meyerton Farms.

These parks have been equipped with outdoor gym equipment, children's playpark equipment, and fencing at Meyerton Farms Park.

The launch and establishment of these parks demonstrate our commitment to enhancing the well-being of our community by creating accessible and enjoyable public spaces.

Additionally, the Executive Mayor and his MMCs led a tree-planting ceremony as part of greening efforts to plant and maintain indigenous trees across the municipality.

Greening refers to an integrated approach to planting, caring for, and managing all vegetation in urban and rural areas to secure multiple benefits for communities.

To further promote the greening of Midvaal, schools within the Midvaal area will receive a donation of trees to plant on their school premises.

Households within Midvaal will also have the opportunity to apply to receive trees from the municipality’s Parks Section.

Further details on how to apply for and receive a tree will be communicated through the municipality's website and social media accounts.
